The Deadlys website has been a very curious creature. Almost as interesting as the characters on the comic pages themselves. Each revision has had it’s strengths and weaknesses for sure, but each one was made with a passion to try and display the comic in the best light and give readers the best experience possible.
Since it’s launch in 2010, The Deadlys™ has had, in my humble opinion, some fun site designs that gave off a spooky and unique vibe to them and paired nicely with the comic strip. Looking back, I had forgotten about some of the sites and was pleasantly surprised at just how different they looked.
Today, while I’m happy with the new website for it’s functions and features, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that I miss those older sites with their elaborate layouts and colorful, spooky graphics. It reminds me of when the web was a little more fun, back before everything was boiled down to the most basic forms to accommodate cellphones and other devices that really weren’t meant for web browsing.
On a positive note, it does seem like the trend is finally swinging back in the other direction. Many younger users have rediscovered their love of websites and are even making their own creations that would make any MySpace / Geocities user proud. This, coupled with many people’s desire to just experience real people online again seems to be leading us back to a more desirable web experience.
Given enough time, who knows, maybe we’ll see the full return of old fashioned websites again. One can dream. Until then, we’ll keep working to make this one the best it can be so you’ll keep coming back.
