October marks not only one of the best seasons of the year, but it also marks the anniversary of The Deadlys™!
The strip first appeared online on October 4, 2010 and quickly gained a following. Throughout the years, I’ve watched in amazement as people have become fans of these characters and dedicated so much of their love and attention to them. It’s hard to describe just how cool it is to see something you make bring so many people joy.
When I started the original strip, I knew exactly how I wanted it to end. Fortunately I was able to do just that when I wrapped up the original comic in 2019. I loved the idea of leaving it open, as if we were just visiting and had to go home but the family kept on.
Over the years, I’ve tried to expand on the world by doing stories and other series but ultimately nothing had the staying power that the original did. I’ve always wondered if I should’ve kept it going but, at the time, I was afraid of it becoming stale and tarnishing the series as a whole.
So now, staring at the 15th anniversary of one of my most successful comics, I begin to wonder if we should visit the family again and see how they’re doing but I’m afraid to venture back into the portal alone.
So what do you think? Would you like to see more of The Deadlys™ and find out what they’ve been up to the last few years? Let me know down in the comments (despite rumors to the contrary, I can’t read your minds).
Thanks for reading!
Yes. But go with the original asrt style. I always liked it best. 🙂
Yeah, the revamped style was just a temporary, fun experiment. They’d look like the photo above if I did more in the main comic.
I meant “art”. I bought your two new books.
You didn’t have to do that but I appreciate it.
I would love to see more of the Deadlys! I bought several of your books and the board game. I did like the revamped style was nice, my only complaint was I had to zoom to read the text or see details. I would was kinda bummed when it ended, but always thrilled when I see new stories. I don’t know if this would ever happen, but it would be cool to see some of the what if stories put to animation. Love your work with the Deadlys and the The Asylumantics.
Thanks Cactus! Wow, the board game? I knew it sold moderately well when I first released it but glad to hear from someone who got one. Most people don’t know but I actually designed a battle card game but never really launched it.
I would love to see some Deadlys animation but that’s still really pricey and I’m no animator so it’ll have to remain a pipe dream for now.
Thanks for the feedback!
